MPFab’s intake for the Chevy Sonic 1.4L Turbo is the only kit on the market with a 6″ velocity stack, and massive 6″ filter for unmatched flow. Our heat shield has also been carefully designed and engineered to seal against the underside of the hood. This keeps the hot air out for a cooler, denser air charge. This equates to large gains over the whole power curve. Peak gains of 9-11whp, and 12-15wtq were found during dyno testing.
Opening up the intake tract of your Sonic will also let all those beautiful turbo noises in too! Our customers rave about how “Cool” their Sonic sounds after installing our intake. The turbo “hiss”, and the bypass valve’s “whoopssshhhh” after throttle lift are easily heard inside the cabin, but are not obtrusive.
Kit comes with everything shown, and works with stock, or aftermarket tune. The included air filter utilizes a dry media, which means no worries about oil from the filter messing with the MAF either!
We are now offering a “honeycomb” air straightener to aid the velocity stack in producing the truest MAF readings possible. These are not needed in order to get the best performance out of your MPFab intake. However, adding one of these will richen the mixture slightly at idle and light load cruising, which may be of benefit if your fuel trims are slightly outside of the preferred values to the + side of Zero. Back to Back testing on the dyno with and without the screen showed almost identical power curves. Adding the MAF honeycomb will not penalize performance in anyway.
Here’s an actual dyno 
sheet comparing the MPFab Sonic Intake, vs. the stock airbox with the snorkle removed. Testing was done within 20min of each other to insure accuracy, and both on the stock tune. Removal of the snorkle on the stock airbox showed a peak increase of 3whp and 4wtq on this dyno, and our intake made additional peak power gains of 8whp and 6wtq over that! Large gains in mid range TQ, and high rpm HP can easily be seen on the graph. In some areas it’s over 12wtq/whp!!

This is the first mod that I have done to my 2013 Sonic RS since I got it 6 months and 7500 miles ago, so I can’t compare it to anything else. But, this is an excellent mod worth every penny, if just in sound alone. The car went from being a turbo in disguise, to an air sucking machine, in minutes. The quality is superb and installation was a breeze, aside from figuring out the correct way to apply the weatherstripping. If you’re on the fence, buy this, you won’t regret it. It gives the engine bay a whole new look, and completely alters the sound (for the better), making an already fun to drive car, even more fun. Throttle response is definitely improved, but without a tune, I cannot say that the car feels like it has any extra power. But the smile on your face from the sound of the turbo will make your foot keep sinking into the pedal. Packaging was excellent and I order mine Thursday night, it shipped Friday morning, and arrived Saturday night.

I bought this intake for my 2012 Sonic turbo about a year ago. The weather stripping is about the hardest part but it all fits together nicely. The massive red air filter will make your car look impressive. When my brother in law and I took the car for its first drive after install…we giggled like school boys and the amazing sounds. You can hear it suck in that air and the blow off With the release of the pedal. Its pure enjoyment and like Derrick said above, it’s worth every penny! Even the oil change place guys liked it! Ive put about 11,000 miles on the intake with no problems. I’ll definitely be getting the intercooler from MPFab when i have the money. Buy this and it will make you smile daily.

Everything about it was cake to install, the instructions were straight forward and also straight to the point. nothing about the installation was hard at all. I highly recommend it. Sound is awesome, and it also looks awesome. Just make sure you got a bunch of torque heads to get the fender cover off luckily I had a bunch of them. There’s no bolts holding the stock box down so that’s always a plus.

This intake is fantastic, installed it on my 2014 RS. It’s a very well put together system, a little tight to install the heat shield but as soon as it got into place it fit perfectly.
The intake sound is great now too, hearing the bypass valve is always fun between shifts!
I HIGHLY recommend this intake for any sonic turbo owner.

I couldn’t be happier with this intake. I read about mpfab on superstreetonline and decided this was the intake that I wanted. I received the step by step instructions the day before the intake. The instructions walked me through with no problem and it took about 30min to install. I couldn’t agree with Mikey (review above) more about giggling like a school boy with the new sounds my sonic makes. I would 100% recommend this to anybody, I drive a 2014 Sonic RS. I look forward to purchasing more upgrades from Morgan Performance Fabrication.
